2017 1 Oz Saint Gaudens National Park Foundation Round BU

The Saint Gaudens National Historic Site and the National Park Foundation collaborated to commission the St. Gaudens round in 2017. It was recreated using the original design from the original plasters, along with sketches from the archives. The mint and mintage for this round are unknown. The round is uncommon.

Obverse: The obverse depicts the proposed concept design of Lady Liberty intended to be used on the newly designed $20 gold piece. The word "LIBERTY" arches across the top while the date "MMXVII" is found to the right. 

Reverse: The reverse features the proposed concept for the perched eagle. The country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches across the top, while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed at the bottom. The organization "SAINT GAUDENS NHS" is inscribed above the eagle's back at the upper right.
