The Don Casey Company began operations in 1974 and was based out of Garland, Texas. They were a prolific producer of bars in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At some point, they joined forces with Silvex Silver Systems. During the 1980s, the Don Casey Company began producing rounds. By 1992, the company had ceased operations.
The most well-known of the rounds is "The Texas Dollar". The rounds were minted under the name Texas Mint, which was a division of the Don Casey Company. Other Texas-themed rounds were minted throughout the 1980s, many of which have a map of Texas on the reverse. Occasionally, they are inscribed with the name "Texas Mint". Texas Mint also produced the first of the Free the Eagle series, commissioned by Howard Ruff. Name variations of "Texas Mint" were used by several companies, but they had no relation to the Don Casey Company and did not overlap with the years of production. All products minted by the Don Casey Company/Texas Mint were minted with .999 Fine Silver. Most of the known rounds are 1 Oz while the bars vary in weight.
