Cambodia Lost Tigers

The Cambodia Lost Tiger silver coins debuted in 2022. Commissioned by the government of Cambodia, it honors the strength and independence of tigers living in the Cambodian forests. The series shines a light on efforts to reintroduce tiger populations in Cambodia and other locales around the world. The collection features gold, silver, and colorized silver options. The silver bullion round is only produced in a 1 Oz size. The 1 Oz coin has a nominal value of 3,000 Riels and is a legal tender in Cambodia. The coins are produced by The Singapore Mint, which is the official government minting agency in Singapore. The motif of the coins remains constant from year to year, with the obverse depicting the architecture of Angkor Wat and the reverse showing tigers in their native habitat.

Design

Obverse: The obverse depicts Angkor Wat rising from the jungle. This edifice, with its five lotus-bud towers reaching skyward in perfect symmetry, is a magnificent example of Khmer architecture. The temple’s sandstone blocks, weathered to warm golden and gray tones, are covered with intricate bas-reliefs depicting Hindu epics and celestial dancers. The country's name, "KINGDOM OF CAMBODA", arches across the top. The date, along with the denomination of "3,000 RIELS", is inscribed at the bottom.

Reverse: The coin's reverse depicts the Cambodian tigers in their native habitat. Sometimes a single tiger is shown, while other times multiple animals are depicted. The name of the series "LOST TIGERS OF CAMBODIA" arches across the top, while the weight and composition of "1 OZ 999 FINE SILVER" is located at the bottom.
