1970's Rounds

The explosion of privately minted silver rounds and bars began in the 1970s. This was due to the Bretton Woods agreement and the removal of the dollar from the gold standard. Earlier legislation was also rescinded allowing for the private ownership of precious metals.

While many of the mints during this era focused on Art Bars, quite a few also produced rounds. Any of the rounds or bars dated from 1970 through 1979 can be found in this category. Additionally, any undated rounds known to be issued during that time from will also be placed in this category. If the issuing mint is known, then the rounds or bars will be listed there as well. All rounds and bars have been listed in the appropriate thematic categories.
