The Texas Mint was a small private mint located in Whitney, Texas. The founder was an artist and rancher named Rick Pinner. The mint began in 1997 with the design and production of the Texas 2000 Silver Dollar, commemorating Texas's entry into the new millennium. It was in operation until 2010.
Throughout its existence, The Texas Mint produced Texas dollar rounds for 10 years from 2000 through 2009. Although the first round bears the date 2000, it was minted from 1998 to 2000. Thirty(30) gold 1 Oz rounds were also minted for the inaugural issue. New designs were introduced each year from 2001 to 2009. Beginning in 2003, they introduced Texas dimes. The dimes appear to have been minted during 2003, 2004, and 2006. Each 1 Oz round or dime depicts someone or something celebrating Texas. The rounds are made with 1 Oz of .999 Fine Silver, and the dimes are made with .22 Oz of .999 Fine Silver.
