1987 1 Oz Rudder Cut Cay Round BU

Rudder Cut Cay is a private island in the Bahamas owned by David Copperfield. In 1987, a round depicting the island was commissioned. The purpose of the round, the circumstances of its minting, the mint, and the mintage are all unknown. Because of their rarity, only a few examples have surfaced. 

Obverse: The obverse depicts a beach scene on Rudder Cut Cay. A thatched-roof hut is nestled along the beach with palm trees swaying gently in the breeze. A swimmer walks through the water in the foreground. The name "RUDDER CUT CAY" arches across the top.

Reverse: The reverse portrays a local Bahamian with a parrot on his left shoulder. The date "1987" is located on the left while the weight and composition of "1 OUNCE TROY FINE SILVER" are inscribed at the bottom.The name "RUDDER CUT CAY • BAHAMAS" arches across the top.
