1974 1 Oz Safford Arizona Centennial Round BU

Probably part of a 3 medallion set. The top edge bears the serial number 28 along with a superscript 3. Less than 100 minted.

Obverse: The obverse depicts two cars and a covered wagon traversing the plains.  A mountain towers in the background while a plane flies overhead.  Underneath the central image is the text "SAFFORD CENTENNIAL".  An outer ring encircles the image and is inscribed with the phrase "A CENTURY CONQUERED A CHALLENGE AHEAD". At the bottom are the dates "1874-1974". 

Reverse: The reverse contains a central inscription encircled by an outer ring.  The inscription reads "APRIL 25-MAY 5 1974".  An outer ring encircles the text and has the inscription "SAFFORD CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION" at the top and "SAFFORD ARIZONA 85546" at the bottom.

Edge: The edge is smooth.  At the top, there is a serial number 28 with a superscript 3.
