Alabama Power is the primary power company for the state of Alabama. Target Zero is the company's initiative to reduce the number of work-related accidents throughout the year. The safety initiative program began in 2005. At least two different rounds were produced as a reward for the initiative. The mint which produced this round is unknown.
Obverse: The central image on the obverse is the symbol for the Target Zero initiative. It contains the text "PROJECT ZERO / EVERY DAY, EVERY JOB, SAFETY". The Alabama Power logo is depicted at the bottom. An outer circle circumscribes the central image. It has the wording "CENTRAL SAFETY COMMISSION RECOGNITION" at the top. Sixteen five-pointed stars fill the circle at the bottom.
Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is a statement by James M. Barry, president of the company from 1949 to 1952. The statement describes the need for employee safety on the job.
Edge: The edge is reeded will a flat surface at the top bearing the weight and fineness of "ONE OZ .999 FINE SILVER".
