2000 1 Oz Krause Publications IOLA Car Show Round PF

Krause Publications, which began in 1952, has issued several silver bars and rounds throughout its existence. In the 1970's it issued bars commemorating the Numismatic News magazine. In 1987 it celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Numismatic News publication. Beginning in 1990, the organization issued quite a few rounds for different events ranging from company outings to seasonal rounds to festivals hosted by Krause publications. Few if any rounds were issued after 2002.  From 1996 through 2000, rounds were issued to commemorate the yearly car show in Iola sponsored by Krause Publications. Each show had a specific theme. This round from 2000 celebrates the automotive accomplishments of the 20th century. The mint and mintage are unknown. Very rare round!

Obverse: The obverse features a 1931 Dusenberg and a 1915 For Model T Sedan. The inscriptions "IOLA 2000", "JULY 7-9 2000", and the names of the vehicles surround the images.  Around the rim is the upper inscription "RECALLING THE 20TH CENTURY" and the lower inscription "A CENTURY OF PROGRESS".

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the logo of Krause Publications, in use for rounds from 1995 until 2002. The logo depicts the lowercase letters "KP" superimposed on horizontal lines. The phrase "SINCE 1952" is found underneath. An oval at the lower right bears the inscription "AN EMPLOYEE STOCK OWNERSHIP COMPANY / ESOP PARTNERS IN PUBLISHING". A mirrored circle surrounds the logo. The upper right inscription bears the name "KRAUSE PUBLICATIONS" while the lower one contains the name "IOLA, WISCONSIN" where Krause Publications are headquartered. At the left, a sprig of ivy provides decoration and fills the remainder of the circle.
