ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company) is a company primarily involved in the copper smelting and refining industry. They own several mines within the United States. During the 1990s, they commissioned several rounds celebrating achievements within the company. These were awarded to employees. The mint and mintage of most of these rounds are unknown.
Obverse: The obverse features the ASARCO logo, a large plus with curved lines that simulate strip mining patterns. The name "ASARCO" is found at the top while the lower inscription states "HEALTH AND SAFETY EXCELLENCE".
Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is a phrase that states "MOST IMPROVED TENNESSEE MINES DIVISION". Below that is the date of "1992". The weight and composition of ".999 FINE SILVER / ONE TROY OZ." can be found at the bottom. Interlocking sheaves of whet decorate the outer rim.
