1981 1 Oz Acton Corporation Isaac Davis Monument Round BU

Acton Corporation was a media company based in Acton, Massachusetts. In 1981, the president of the company, Samuel Phillips, decided to give silver rounds as Christmas bonuses. Two rounds were given to each employee. The rounds came in a small box and were accompanied by a letter personally signed by Mr. Phillips. One side of the round depicts the company's logo, while the other features a monument in Acton that honors the first soldiers to fall at the Battle of Concord. The letter is shown for reference, and neither the letter nor the packaging will come with the purchase of a round. The mint and mintage for this round are unknown, but the rounds are rare.

Obverse: The obverse depicts the Isaac Davis Monument in Acton, Massachusetts. The monument honors Revolutionary War hero Captain Isaac Davis, the first officer to fall at the Battle of Concord. It also honors two of Davis’s fellow militiamen: Abner Hosmer and James Hayward, who also died at Concord and Lexington. The phrase "SEASONS GREETINGS" is inscribed above the central image, while the date of "1981" is located at the bottom. 

Reverse: The reverse features the Acton Corporation logo, a large "A" with the name "ACTON CORPORATION" embedded in the crossbar. The company's name, "ACTON CORPORATION", arches across the top while its location, "ACTON, MASS.", is found below. No designation of weight or composition is present on the round.
