1991 1 Oz Hutt River Desert Storm Jeep Type 2 Round PF

Although similar in design to the 45-round Desert Storm set issued by Hutt River Province, this is a standalone issue with a $5 denomination. It was minted with .999 Fine Silver. There appear to be two varieties, one without the "IN GOD WE TRUST" motto (Type 1) underneath the date and one with it (Type 2). The Type 2 was probably minted to commemorate the Allied victory in the Gulf War. The Type 2 round is seldom encountered.

Obverse: The obverse design depicts two soldiers in a jeep with another soldier standing beside it. One of the soldiers in the Jeep is manning a machine gun. A flag, containing the words "DESERT STORM", waves in the background, and an Apache helicopter can be seen flying in the distance. The date of "1991" is inscribed at the lower right. It is superimposed over the letter "V" and has the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" inscribed beneath it. Additionally, the word "LIBERTY" arches across the top.

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is a crown representing the Hutt River Province.  The crown rests on a wall of intricate designs.  In between the crown and the wall is the name "NEW QUEENSLAND MINT". The denomination "5 / FIVE DOLLARS" is superimposed over the wall of designs. The upper inscription bears the name of the autonomous zone of "HUTT RIVER PROVINCE". The weight and composition of "ONE OZ. * .999 FINE SILVER" is inscribed at the bottom.
