1989 1 Oz Continental Coin Koala Round BU

Continental Coin minted the koala rounds from 1989 through 1991. During the same period, they were minting  "legal" tender coins for the Hutt River Province. The obverse was used on a $5 denomination coin dated 1990 for the Hutt River Province. 

Obverse: The obverse design depicts a mother koala climbing a branch. She is carrying her joey on her back. The upper inscription reads "ONE SILVER KOALA" while the lower one states "AUSTRALIA'S TEDDY BEAR". The date can be found at the lower right. 

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is a map of Australia with a superimposed crown. The name "NEW QUEENSLAND MINT" is inscribed underneath. Continental Coin established the corporation of the New Queensland Mint to produce coins for the Hutt River Province. The mint mark for Continental Coin, "CC" is located underneath the map. The weight of "ONE + TROY OUNCE" is inscribed at the top while the composition of ".999 FINE SILVER" is located at the bottom.
