1986 1 Oz SilverTowne Tennessee Homecoming Round BU

Homecoming '86 was a year-long celebration in almost every Tennessee community. The event was “part hoe-down, part history lesson, and part homecoming celebration.” Many communities created organizations that continued through the state's bicentennial in 1996. The project began during the administration of Governor Lamar Alexander with the establishment of thirty-nine pilot communities in 1983, which began preparations for Homecoming '86 and served as examples to other communities. This round was commissioned to celebrate the festival.

Obverse: The central feature on the obverse is the official logo of the 1986 Tennessee Homecoming. It consists of a wooden rocking chair with an embroidered quilt of the Tennessee state flag. The phrase "TENNESSEE HOMECOMING" is inscribed at the upper right with the date "1986" located on the right. 

Reverse: The reverse design has an eagle perched on a branch with the weight and purity designation of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" curved around the top. The SilverTowne trademark logo beneath the eagle's talons and the location of the mint, "WINCHESTER INDIANA", are absentfrom the reverse, but the reverse is unique to SilverTowne.
