1986 1 Oz NWTM Pacific Northwest Round BU

The first year of issue.

Obverse: The obverse depicts a map of the nine states in the Pacific Northwest.  Part of the Pacific Ocean is also pictured.  In a nice touch, the map itself contains varying heights for the land and mountains and is flatter for the ocean.  The map is placed within an outer circle.  The outer circle bears the inscription "NORTHWEST TERRITORIAL MINT" at the top while the date "1986" is located at the bottom.  

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the common motif of trade unit scales which is also one of the standard reverses for NWTM rounds.  Sprigs of laurel flank either side of the scales.  The weight of "ONE TROY OUNCE"  is inscribed at the top.  The lower inscription designates the round as a "SILVER TRADE UNIT".  Immediately above that is the purity and content of  ".999 FINE SILVER".
