2005 1 Oz Poarch Creek Chief Menawa Round BU

This round was minted under the official authorization of the Poarch Creek Indians in Alabama.  This is one of a series of eight rounds that were minted between 2004 and 2007. Two rounds were minted per year. The mint for the rounds is unknown. 

Obverse: The obverse features a left-facing image of Chief Menawa, one of the great Poarch Indian chiefs. Circumscribing the image is the text "CHIEF MENAWATHE GREAT WARRIOR". The date of 2005 is located at the bottom. 

Reverse: The reverse features the coat of arms of the Poarch Creek Indians. It consists of two sticks in the shape of a cross with feathers hanging from the left and the right. The upper inscription reads "CREEK NATION OF INDIANS" with the denomination of "ONE DOLLAR" inscribed at the bottom.
