1994 1 Oz Highland Mint Frank Thomas Round PF

Nice collectible round! From 1994 through 1996 Highland Mint issued rounds depicting popular MLB players. Nine rounds were issued each year and mintages for each round were 5,000. The first 500 were sold as matching serial-numbered sets. Players issued in 1994 include Frank Thomas, Mike Piazza, Jeff Bagwell, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr., Cal Ripken Jr, Don Mattingly, Greg Maddux, and Roger Clemens.

Obverse: The obverse design depicts the front-facing profile of Frank Thomas. He is wearing an MLP Players Association cap. His name and number appear at the left and a copy of his signature is found at the bottom. 

Reverse: The central design on the reverse is the logo for the MLB Players Association. It is shaped like a base and shows a player swinging a bat. Underneath the central image is a box with a 4-digit serial number with the phrase "LIMITED EDITION" inscribed immediately above it. A micro-inscription at the lower right reads "©MLBPA USA". Around the outer edge is an inscription that reads "OFFICIALLY LICENSED BY MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS BASEBALL ASSOCIATION". The lower inscription denotes the weight, purity, and content and reads "ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER".
