The Numismatic News, which began publication in 1952, provides weekly reports on market trends and news concerning collectible U.S. coins and paper money. In 1987, this silver round was issued to commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Numismatic News publication. It was made available for purchase during that year along with a bronze medallion. The mint and mintage are unknown.
Obverse: The obverse features the logo of the Numismatic News publication, an eagle sitting on a banner that reads "NUMISMATIC NEWS 1952-1987". Underneath the logo is scripted text stating "THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE".
Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the logo of Krause Publications, the parent company of Numismatic News. The logo depicts the lowercase letters "KP". The bottom text denotes the town of "IOLA, WISCONSIN", the location of the Krause Publications headquarters. The weight, content, and purity of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" is inscribed at the top.
