The Knights of Momus was founded in 1872 and was the second-oldest parading Old Line Krewe in the New Orleans Carnival. The theme in 1972 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the organization. Uncommon silver round.
Obverse: The central image on the obverse is a sunrise. The letters "KOM" superimposed over each other are located immediately below. A banner at the top bears the dates "1872" and "1972". An angel is found on the left while a reveler playing a flute can be seen on the right.
Reverse: The reverse features the insignia of the Knights of Momus. The insignia depicts a knight in full regalia on horseback. The banner above the knight reads "KNIGHTS OF MOMUS". The organization's slogan of "DUM VIVIMUS VIVAMUS" is inscribed on a banner at the bottom.
Edge: The edge is reeded except for a flat surface at the bottom which bears the purity and content of ".999 FS".
