1 Oz Coins & Such Trade Unit Round BU

This advertising round was commissioned by Coins & Such based in Panama City, FL. The business was in operation up through 1993. The date of minting, mint, and mintage are unknown. However, the trade scale motif was quite prominent during the 1980's. The round is also encountered with the phrase "SILVER TRADE UNIT" instead of "COINS & SUCH" on the reverse. The round is uncommon.

Obverse: The obverse depicts a pelican sitting on a stump. Cattails are growing nearby and the sun is setting in the distance. Encircling the central image is an outer band bearing the name "FLORIDA" at the top and "SUNSHINE STATE" at the bottom. The purity of ".999 FINE" is found at the upper left and the content of "SILVER" is located at the right. 

Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is the common motif of the trade unit scales. Sprigs of laurel flank either side of the scales. The weight of "ONE TROY OUNCE" is inscribed at the top along with "31.1 GRAMS" immediately below it. The lower inscription bears the name  "COINS & SUCH". Immediately above that is the purity and content of ".999 FINE SILVER".
