Obverse: The obverse features a bust of Ludwig von Mises, the champion of Austrian economics. His name is inscribed to the right and above his bust is the phrase "TU NE CEDE MALIS".

Reverse: The reverse is adorned with detail from the von Mises family crest. The name of the institute is inscribed above the crest. The following phrases are inscribed on the lower half of the coin: "ADVANCING THE AUSTRIAN SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS"; the AOCS denomination of "FIFTY" representing 1 Oz of silver; the weight, content, and purity of “ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER”; "AOCS APPROVED"; the date, and the words: “LIBERTY, PROPERTY, PEACE” which were ideals Murray Rothbard promoted through his many books and articles.
