2015 1 Oz North American Mint Welcome to Silverbug Island Round BU

The Silverbug Island series was minted to honor the popular Reddit Silverbug community. Beginning in 2015, the North American Mint minted a series of eight rounds. The eight rounds track a pirate ship in search of treasure. This is the first in the series. Proof mintages were limited to 20,000 and BU mintages were unlimited.

Obverse: The obverse depicts a pirate ship sailing east across calm ocean waters. A compass emerges from the background with its directional bearings stamped around the edge. A treasure chest filled with coins resides in the foreground with an “X” marking its location. The date “2015” is inscribed beneath the "X" at the lower right. The sails of the ship bear the inscription “IN SILVER WE TRUST”. Inscribed on the lid of the treasure chest is the phrase “HOLD IT OWN IT". 

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is a pirate ship sailing to the right.  A mound of coins rising above the water is seen in the background.  The phrase inscribed at the top reads “WELCOME TO SILVERBUG ISLAND”. The weight, purity, and content of “1 TROY OZ .999 FINE SILVER” are engraved around the design at the bottom.
