Riverton, Illinois hosted a sesquicentennial celebration in 1987. A commemorative round was produced in conjunction with this celebration. The round is a common vintage seated liberty replica round with engraved text relating to the celebration. The text appears to be an "aftermarket" addition. The round was possibly minted by SilverTowne. The mintage for this issue is unknown, but examples are quite rare.
Obverse: The obverse depicts the seated liberty obverse. Liberty is wearing a flowing dress and is seated upon a rock. She holds a Liberty pole surmounted by a Phrygian cap in her left hand. Liberty's right hand rests on the top corner of a striped shield containing a diagonal banner inscribed with the word "LIBERTY".
Reverse: The central image on the reverse is text specifying the weight, purity, and composition of the round. It reads "ONE TROY OUNCE SILVER .999". A wreath of laurel leaves surrounds the text with a shield depicted where the leaves meet at the top. The reverse is a loose replica of seated liberty coinage.
