1987 1 Oz AMC Cartoon Celebrities Shazam Round PF

In 1987, AMC produced a series of rounds featuring famous cartoon characters. The rounds were made in several compositions, including bronze, gold-plated bronze, and .999 Fine Silver. A small number of the silver rounds were also enameled. A total of 50 rounds were minted for the series.  Some of the rounds are harder to find than others. The Phantom is considered rare. Mintages are unknown.

Obverse: The obverse depicts a Shazam standing in his typical pose.  Clouds provide the backdrop for the image. The name "SHAZAM" arches across the top. On the left is the phrase "TM & © DC COMICS INC, 1982".

Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is the logo for the Cartoon Celebrities series. The upper inscription reads "CARTOON CELEBRITIES" while the lower specifies the weight and composition of "ONE TROY OZ. 999 FINE SILVER". The phrase "MADE IN USA BY AMC" is located just above.
