1981 1 Oz California Crown Mint Louisiana Tech Basketball Round BU

In 1981 Louisiana Tech commissioned CCM to create a medallion commemorating the Lady Techsters perfect season of 34-0 and National Championship. Mintage is unknown but probably quite low. Rare CCM silver round.

Obverse: The central image on the obverse contains the text "LADY TECHSTERS / 34-0 / BASKETBALL". The name "LOUISIANA TECH UNIVERSITY" is inscribed at the top. It is matched by the phrase "AIAW 1980-81 NATIONAL CHAMPS" at the bottom. The mint mark of  "CCM" is micro-printed above the lower inscription.

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse are balancing scales, a common motif found on many trade unit silver rounds.  Sprigs of ivy flank the scales to either side.  The inscription located at the top is "THE INTERNATIONAL" and it is matched by "SILVER TRADE UNIT" which is centered at the bottom.  The content of "ONE TROY OUNCE" is inscribed below the top inscription and the purity of ".999 FINE" is inscribed immediately above the scales. The mint mark of "CCM" is located directly below the central image and directly below that is the weight of "31.1 GRAMS".
