1 Oz California Crown Mint He Made Uncle Cranky Saddam Round PF

Although no mintmark is present, the reverse is one of the standard reverses used by the California Crown Mint. The motif depicts sentiment leading up to the Gulf War and Desert Storm.

Obverse: The central image plays off of a Norman Rockwell "Spanking" artwork.  Uncle Sam is pictured with Saddam Hussein lying across his lap. Saddam flails as Uncle Sam raises a paddle with a spike embedded in it.  The paddle contains the letters "US". Uncle Sam's hat rests on the ground. The words "HE MADE UNCLE CRANKY" appear at the upper left. 

Reverse: The central image on the obverse is an eagle depicted in front of the liberty bell bell. Inscribed above the image is "AMERICA AMERICA". The lower inscription bears the weight, purity, and content of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER". The upper and lower inscriptions are separated by a star on either side.
