Although no mint mark is present, the reverse is one of the standard reverses used by the California Crown Mint.

Obverse: The central image on the obverse depicts a Coast Guardsman on board a ship working with ropes. The central image is superimposed over two anchors. The outer circle bears the text "UNITED STATES COAST GUARD".

Reverse: The central image on the obverse is an eagle depicted in front of the liberty bell bell. Inscribed above the image is "AMERICA AMERICA". The lower inscription bears the weight, purity, and content of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER". The upper and lower inscriptions are separated by a star on either side.
