Obverse: The obverse design features a gorilla roaring fiercely as if to protect his band. Arched over the gorilla’s image is the inscription “CONGO SILVERBACK GORILLA”. A lower "2020 1 OZ 999 SILVER" inscription denotes the date, weight, purity, and content.

Reverse: The coin's reverse side features the official coat of arms for the Republic of Congo. "REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO" is inscribed above the coat of arms, while the denomination, "5000 FRANCS CFA" is inscribed below.
