2006 1 Oz Australian Lunar Series 1 [Dog] BU

The 2006 coins feature the Year of the Dog. Sarah Anderson designed the dog on the 2006 silver coins. The German Shepherd is shown in a sitting position looking attentively to the right. 

Obverse: The obverse depicts the Jody Clark design of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Diadem crown on her head. She is encircled by text around the outer rim which includes her name "ELIZABETH II", the name of the issuing country "AUSTRALIA", and the face value of the coin "1 DOLLAR".

Reverse:  The motif is the lunar animal of the particular year. To the left of the motif, the date "2006" is inscribed while a Chinese symbol representing the lunar year is located at the right. The inscription beneath the motif contains the weight, purity, and content of "1 OZ 999 SILVER". Floral scrollwork decorates the spaces between the inscriptions. The background has a smooth, frosted finish.
