2003 1 Oz Australian Lunar Series 1 [Goat] BU

The 2003 coins featured the Year of the Goat. This coin portrays a nanny goat balancing on rocky terrain with her young. The baby goat seems to be resting as the mother is keeping watch.

Obverse: The obverse depicts the Jody Clark design of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Diadem crown on her head. She is encircled by text around the outer rim, which includes her name "ELIZABETH II", the name of the issuing country "AUSTRALIA", and the face value of the coin "1 DOLLAR".

Reverse:  The motif is the lunar animal of the particular year. The date "2003" is inscribed to the left of the motif, while a Chinese symbol representing the lunar year is located at the right. The inscription beneath the motif contains the weight, purity, and content of "1 OZ 999 SILVER". Floral scrollwork decorates the spaces between the inscriptions. The background has a smooth, frosted finish.
