20 Gram International Mint Nation of Rifleman Hawken Round BU

From a series of 30 medals commissioned by the NRA between 1971 and 1975.

Obverse: The design on the obverse depicts a pioneer holding a Hawken rifle.  A bear fishing for salmon can be seen in the background. Inscribed at the top is the name "HAWKEN PLAINS RIFLE". 

Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is text that describes the invention and use of the Hawken rifle. Above the text is the Liberty Bell. An eagle in flight is depicted below. 

Edge: The edge is smooth.  The purity and content of ".999 FINE SILVER" are inscribed along with a 5-digit serial number at the bottom.
