1987 1 Oz AMC Texas International Mint Viva Mexico Caballito Round PF

This silver round is a replica of the Caballito 1 Peso coin issued by Mexico from 1910 to 1914. It was minted by the American Medallion Corporation (AMC) known previously as the Texas International Mint (TIM). Several other coin replica rounds were also produced by TIM in 1987. The mintage is unknown, but the round is rare.

Obverse: The obverse features Liberty riding a horse. In her right hand is an oak branch while she holds t a flaming torch in her left. The sun rises on the horizon. The imagery commemorates the 100th Anniversary of Miguel Hidalgo's Grito de Dolores, which started the War of Independence from Spain. Above the image is the text "VIVA MEXICO" and the date "1987" is located at the bottom.    

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the text denoting the weight, content, and purity of "UNA ONZA LEY .999 PLATA PURA". Concentric circles expand outward with arrows pointing north, south, east, and west. Decorative dots surround the outer edge.
