1976 1 Oz Draper Mint Second Centennial Type 2 Round BU

Draper Mint minted two versions of rounds celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the United States. Both rounds share a common reverse, and two depict drummers and a fife player on the obverse. On the Type 1 round, the drummers are surrounded by stars, and there is no United States map in the background. The Type 2 round has the US map in the background. It is estimated that fewer than 1,000 of these rounds were minted, making them quite rare. 

Obverse: The obverse features two drummers and a fife player marching off to battle. An outline of the United States can be seen in the background. The dates "1776-1976" are inscribed at the bottom. Stars around the outer rim encircle the central image. 

Reverse: The reverse depicts two crossed flags with the phrase "U.S. SECOND CENTENNIAL" in the middle. Thirteen five-pointed stars encircle the image. The upper inscription in the outer circle specifies the weight and composition of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER". An inscription at the bottom reads "CONSTITUTIONAL". A copyright symbol is located on the left, and the letters "VH" are inscribed at the right.
