1 Oz Danbury Mint Historical Decades 1770 Round PF

The Danbury Mint produced a series of 1 Oz and 1/2 Oz rounds commemorating significant events in United States history. An important event represents each decade. The series was called Historical Decades. The mintage for the rounds is unknown. 

Obverse: The obverse depicts the scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Several men are gathered around the table, reading, discussing, and signing the document. The phrase "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches across at the top, while the decade "1770s" is inscribed on the lower left. The description "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE" is located at the bottom. 

Reverse: The reverse features the common design of the series. The central feature is an eagle with outstretched wings. The eagle's breast depicts the US Constitution manuscript. The upper inscription displays the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", while the weight, purity, and content of "1 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" are inscribed at the bottom. The mint mark of the scripted "D/M" is centered at the bottom.
