1/2 Oz Danbury Mint Historical Decades 2000 Round PF

The Danbury Mint produced a series of 1 Oz and 1/2 Oz rounds commemorating significant events in United States history. An important event represents each decade. The series was called Historical Decades. The mintage for the rounds is unknown. 

Obverse: The obverse depicts the skyline of New York with the Twin Towers dominating the scene. The head of an eagle is shown on the left while the stripes of the American flag provide the backdrop. The phrase "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arches across at the top, while the decade "2000s" is inscribed on the lower left. The description "SEPTEMBER 11, 2001" is located at the bottom. 

Reverse: The reverse features the common design of the series. The central feature is an eagle with outstretched wings. The eagle's breast contains a manuscript of the US Constitution. The upper inscription displays the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM", while the weight, purity, and content of "1/2 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" are inscribed at the bottom. The mint mark of "D/M" is centered at the bottom.
