2006 1 Oz Somali Elephant BU

Third year of issue. Low mintage and quite rare.

Obverse: The obverse depicts the coat of arms for Somalia. The coat of arms consists of a shield with a single star that is being held by two upright leopards, which are standing on large crossed spears below them. “SOMALI REPUBLIC” is inscribed above the shield, and the face value of "1000 SHILLINGS " is below it. The year the coin was minted, "2006", is split by the shield, with the first two digits to the left and the last two to the right.

Reverse: The reverse features an elephant standing in front of a snow-capped mountain. The dates "1916-2006" are inscribed below. The phrase “AFRICAN WILDLIFE” is inscribed at the top, while “ELEPHANT” can be found at the lower left. The weight and composition of "1 OZ AG 999" are inscribed at the lower right.
