The queen's title "ELIZABETH · II · D · G" is inscribed to the left. Along the rim to the right is the Latin inscription "REG · FID · DEF". The denomination of "2 POUNDS" is located at the bottom. The artist's initials "IRB" are located below the neck of the monarch.

Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts the standing Britannia figure designed by Philip Nathan. It shows a female figure on a rocky promontory, wearing a Corinthian helmet, her robes billowing out, caught in a sea wind. One hand She holds a trident in one hand honoring Britain’s naval prowess while the other hand holds an olive branch with a round shield bearing the Union Jack symbol.
