2001 20 Gram American Mint WWII Operation Torch Round PF

From a series of rounds commemorating events from World War II.

Obverse: The design on the obverse depicts American soldiers on a beach. One of them carries a flag while waves can be seen in the background. The phrase "OPERATION TORCH" is engraved at the top and the date "NOVEMBER 8 - DECEMBER 1, 1942" is located at the bottom.

Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is the American flag superimposed on two sprigs of ivy. Above the flag is the inscription "WORLD WAR II" with "USA" below that in smaller letters. Fourteen stars encircle the outer rim. At the bottom, the American Mint mintmark can be found along with the purity of "999".
