1 Oz Golden State Mint Santa Round BU

Uncommon vintage "round". There were not many oddly shaped 1 Oz rounds minted in the 1980s. Golden State Mint minted these on several occasions. This is an older-style round. The details are not as sharp and the lettering on the back is not as defined.

Obverse: The obverse features Santa Claus smiling jovially at the prospect of delivering gifts on Christmas. The round is shaped like an egg with slight indentations on the side.

Reverse: Several lines of text are found on the reverse. The weight of "ONE TROY OUNCE" is located at the top. "MERRY CHRISTMAS" occupies the central portion of the piece. The purity and content of ".999 FINE SILVER" are inscribed at the bottom with the initials "GSM" found immediately above.
