2018 1/10 Oz Brett Kavanaugh Round BU

Rare round! Issued to commemorate the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. The round was issued by the Presidential Mint.

Obverse: The central feature of the obverse is a judge's gavel. Inscribed underneath the gavel is the phrase "HONORABLE JUSTICE / BRETT KAVANAUGH". The name of the mint, the weight, purity, and content of "PRESIDENTIAL MINT 1/10 OZ .999 FINE SILVER" is inscribed beginning at the left of the gavel and extending over the top and to the right. The confirmation date of "OCTOBER 6, 2018" is inscribed along the rim at the bottom.

Reverse: The reverse displays the Great Seal of the Supreme Court of the United States. The Supreme Court has a traditional seal, which is similar to the Great Seal of the United States, but which has a single star beneath the eagle's claws— symbolizing the Constitution's creation of "one Supreme Court." The shield carried by the eagle follows the tradition of the coat of arms with 13 alternating red and white stripes representing the original colonies and the band representing the unity of the states. The eagle's beak bears the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". There is a constellation of 13 stars emerging from clouds. In its right talon, the eagle holds an olive branch. In its left talon, the eagle clenches a bundle of thirteen arrows. Around the outer is inscribed "SEAL OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES".
