2018 1 Oz Fiji Mermaid Rising BU

Only year of issue.  Low mintage of 15,000.

Obverse: The obverse depicts the islands of Fiji transformed into a mermaid breaking the surface of the water. The background pattern of waves and the proof finish of the mermaid lend an ethereal quality to the coin. The theme "MERMAID RISING" is inscribed to the left while the weight and composition of "1 OZ .999 SILVER" is on the right.

Reverse: The reverse depicts the Coat of Arms of Fiji. It consists of a shield divided into four parts by the Cross of St. George and decorated with a lion at the top. Two Fijian warriors support the shield, one on each side. One is clutching a spear and the other is holding a totokia club. At the top is the takia, a traditional Fijian outrigger canoe in full sail. The name of the country and the date of issue "FIJI · 2018" are inscribed at the top while the denomination of "1 DOLLAR" is located at the bottom.
