Obverse: The obverse portrays the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is the longest reigning monarch in British history, surpassing her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria I for the title. This is the fourth-generation design from Ian Rank-Broadley of the Royal Mint and was created in 1998. Around the edge are the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II", "AUSTRALIA", and the face value of "1 DOLLAR".
Reverse: The reverse portrays an Emu walking across an open scene on the Outback. The Emu is a large, flightless bird and is the largest native bird on the Australian continent as well as being endemic to the mainland. Inscriptions around the rim include "AUSTRALIAN EMU" at the top and the date, weight, purity, and content of "2018 1 OZ 9999 SILVER" at the bottom.
