2017 1 Oz Cook Islands UD Grandeur Vladimir Tarasenko Tier 1 BU

In 2017, Upper Deck released a sports card/coin Hockey crossover set. The set featured coins of 20 current and former stars. Each 1 Oz .9999 Fine Silver coin was available in three finishes. Tier 1 was a colorized coin with a standard BU finish and had a mintage of 5,000. Tier 2 had a proof finish with a mintage of 1,000. Tier 3 had a frosted finish with a mintage of 500. A 1/4 Oz .9999 Fine Gold coin was also produced for each of the players and had a mintage of 100. The coins were packaged one per box and sold at an original MSRP of $100. The mint that produced the coins is unknown.

Obverse: The obverse portrays the same image of every Commonwealth of Nations member state. It is the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, and several other mostly island countries. Ian Rank-Broadley designed this image of the Queen. Beginning on the left and proceeding clockwise, the following inscriptions are present: the monarch's name "ELIZABETH II",  the country "COOK ISLANDS", and the denomination of "5 DOLLARS".  The year "2017" is inscribed below the effigy. 

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is a headshot of the hockey player located to the right. A famous landmark associated with the city where he plays is shown left of center. The player's name, along with the weight and composition of ".9999 FINE SILVER ONE TROY OUNCE" is inscribed along the rim at the upper right. The Upper Deck logo is shown towards the lower left. At the bottom, an oval containing a 4-digit serial number (XXXX/5000) can be found. This coin depicts Vladimir Tarasenko and the Arch in St. Louis.
