This round was produced under the auspices of the AOCS group and was one of the approved AOCS currencies. It appears to have been used primarily by a few businesses in Missouri. A website called DixieDollar.org is engraved on the round. The mintage of the rounds is unknown, but AOCS worked closely with the North American Mint on the rounds it produced. Rare round!
Obverse: The obverse features a right-facing bust of Jefferson Davis, president of the Confederacy. The phrase "GOD SAVE THE SOUTH" arches across the top, while the name "JEFFERSON DAVIS" is inscribed below.
Reverse: The upper half of the reverse depicts the St. Andrews cross present on the Confederate flag. The lower half of the round contains the denomination of "FIFTY" inscribed between bars. The weight and composition of “ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER” are located below the denomination. A lower inscription reads "WWW.DIXIDOLLAR.ORG" along with the copyright inscription that states "©2009 JMD • AOCS APPROVED".
