Alaska Mint (previously Anchorage Mint) minted the gold prospector/gold rush medallion every year from 1991 through 2011. The medallions come in several 1 Oz versions, including standard proof and gilded. Many of them also have gold nuggets attached to the pan. The reverses vary with the year, with some having the standard Alaska Seal obverse and others having a gold rush centennial reverse.
Obverse: The obverse depicts a prospector kneeling beside a stream panning for gold. A gold nugget is lodged in the pan. The date "2001" and the name "ALASKA" are inscribed to the right.
Reverse: The reverse features the Alaska gold rush centennial logo. The logo depicts a stylized prospector kneeling and panning for gold. The words "GOLD RUSH CENTENNIAL" are inscribed below. The name "ALASKA" arches across the top.
Edge: The edge is smooth with an inscription along the top containing the weight and composition of "ALASKA MINT 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER". A 4-digit serial number is located along the bottom edge.
