1988 1 Oz State Mint Capital Building Round BU

Very rare round, part of a set of 16.  This Volunteer State set is the only known silver minted by the State Mint.

Obverse: The obverse features the Tennessee Capitol building located in Nashville. The phrase "CAPITOL BUILDING" is inscribed above the image. A star decorates the edge on either side of the building. Beneath the building is the phrase "TENNESSEE 1796-1996" which draws attention to the bicentennial celebration.

Reverse: The central feature of the reverse is the phrase "THE GREAT VOLUNTEER STATE" inscribed in scripted letters. To the lower lift the purity, weight, and content of "1 OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" can be right. The phrase "© STATE MINT CORP." can be found inscribed on the lower right. The date is located immediately below the central phrase. Three stars decorate the top and bottom edges of the round.
