1986 1 Oz Whitman 40th Anniversary Round PF

First year of the series and the only year that one round was minted.  Subsequent years saw different rounds minted for the Red Book and the Blue Book.

Obverse: The central image on the obverse is a representation of Whitman's coin book cover.  The text reads "A GUIDE BOOK OF UNITED STATES COINS / BY R. S. YEOMAN". The phrase "40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION" arches across the top with the dates "1946-1986" inscribed below.  Additional decorative elements of flowers and the Mexican mint-mark "OM" have been added.

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the Whitman logo, a stylized globe with the word "WHITMAN" emblazoned across it.  The phrase "WHITMAN COIN PRODUCTS" is inscribed at the top, while the company's location of "RACINE, WISCONSIN" is inscribed at the bottom.  The purity, weight, and content of "ONE TROY OZ. .999 FINE SILVER" is inscribed underneath the top phrase.
