Description
Obverse: The central image on the obverse depicts a replica of a stamp depicting Benjamin Franklin, the first Postmaster General. The inscription at the top reads "200TH ANNIVERSARY" and immediately below "FIRST POSTMASTER GENERAL". The beginning and end anniversary dates are located at the bottom and the inscription immediately above them reads "UNDER THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS". Sprigs of ivy decorate the lower left and lower right of the round.
Reverse: The reverse features a textual inscription relating to Benjamin Franklin as the first Postmaster General of the United States. Above the text are the dates 1775-1975 while beneath the inscription is the logo of the US Postal Service.
Edge: The edge is reeded except for a smooth space which contains a serial number and the purity and content of ".999 F.S.".
