American Argent Mint produced a fair quantity of the shield rounds and the "Land of the Free" bars. Iowa State University also commissioned them to mint a commemorative medallion celebrating the University. These medallions are rare and rarely seen in the marketplace.
Obverse: The central image on the obverse is Cy, a cardinal who is the mascot of Iowa State University Cyclones. In his beak, he is holding a pennant with the letters "ISU".
Reverse: The reverse features the trade scales, an image found on many trade unit silver rounds. Along the outer circle at the top, "AMERICAN ARGENT MINT LTD." is inscribed. The purity and content of ".999 FINE SILVER " can be found in scripted letters on the outer circle below the scales. The weight of "ONE TROY OUNCE" is inscribed directly underneath the scales.
