1 Oz Alaska Mint Halibut Fishing Single Sided Gold Relief Round PF

Alaska Mint has minted the Sport Fishing medallion every year since 1990. The medallions come in three 1 Oz versions, standard proof, obverse gilded, and gilding on both sides. Two Oz undated medallions are also minted in the standard proof and double-gilded versions.

Obverse: The central image depicts two fishermen in a boat. One of them is reeling in a fish caught with a rod and reel while the other helps land the fish in the boat using a fish net. The upper inscription reads "ALASKA".  The angler, fishing line, fish, and the outer are gilded with 24K gold plating. 

Reverse: The central feature on the reverse is the state seal of Alaska. The objects depicted within the seal symbolize various aspects of the state. The rays above the mountains represent the Northern Lights (aurora borealis). Down below is a smelter symbolizing the mining resources. The trains and ships represent Alaska's primary means of transportation, by sea and by rail. Alaska's forest wealth is represented by the trees while the farmer, horse, and three shocks of wheat symbolize its agriculture. Finally, the fish and seals on the outer circle represent the importance of seafood and wildlife to Alaska's economy. Along the outer circle at the top is the phrase "THE SEAL OF THE STATE". The words "OF ALASKA" are inscribed on the outer rim along the bottom. The outer rim is gilded with 24K gold plating.

Edge: The edge is smooth with an inscription along the top containing the weight and composition of "ALASKA MINT 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER".
